Step One... Tracking,
Editing, and Mixing.
Musicians: this place was built for
you!!! Recording music has always been our main goal
and passion at Transduction Productions. The studio was designed
and built to record small and medium sized musical groups of
almost any instrumentation. Our main tracking room is large enough
to handle any size drum set or piano that you can throw at us
(see Pictures). We offer a
number of top quality instrument and vocal microphones including
the Audix D-Series drum mics. See all of our gear on our Equipment
page. Almost any specialty microphones and equipment you
request can be obtained through local rental companies for an
additional fee. Our two Pro Tools engineers have over 20 years
combined experience in audio recording and music. Full tracking,
editing, and mixing services are available.
We have been recording music in Albuquerque
since 2001 and have worked with local bands such as; Devil
Riding Shotgun, The Cherry Tempo, Mantis Fist, Los Brown Spots,
The Slippry Weazel, Big Lips
& the Skinny, Monkey Normal, Eve of an End, The Muddy River String Band, The Martini Tones, Open Choir Fire, Chicano Thug Records, and many more. Come

record your album at Transduction Productions.
Step Two... Prepare your album for commercial duplication.
When you have finished tracking, editing and mixing
your album you are ready for the Mastering process. In the days of
analog, mastering meant transferring your session master (reel to
reel tape, DAT tape, etc.) onto a commercially distributable media
such as a record, cassette or CD. This process required a highly
specialized and skilled engineer in order to ensure that the commercial
media sounded as good as the original session master. Today the focus
is not on achieving the original quality of the session master. The
focus is on improving the sound as much as possible. No matter how
good you think your recording sounds when it leaves the studio, the
crew at The Sound Lab can make it sound better. Most recording today
is done entirely in the digital domain from start to finish so there
is no need to transfer your media to for distribution as it is most
likely already on CD when it leaves the recording studio. The only
step between studio and production is the creation of your commercial
CD master (actual silver bottom, UPC code) from your session master
CD-R. This is where the modern mastering process begins.
Mastering at the Sound Lab is the last step in the
creative process of an album and the first step towards manufacturing.
It is the link between the studio and the duplication house and a
way to ensure satisfaction with your final product. The mastering
engineer will listen to your album with a fresh unbiased pair of
ears. They will unify your album by setting the overall program level
(song to song volume), execute any fades that you specify, and set
a uniform silence period between songs. They will use specialized
compression and gain to ensure your album is at the highest possible
CD volume levels and tweak the EQ to ensure that your album has a
consistent sound no matter what stereo system it may be played on.
You can read more about the mastering process and the Sound
Lab at DiscMakers.com. You can also listen to before and after
